Hey guys,

I wanted to share this with everyone because it's free and will benefit anyone with horses!!

The parasitology department at Texas A&M University will be providing a free workshop about equine internal parasites on July 23rd. They will be presenting information about drug-resistant parasites and teaching owners how to maximize the effectiveness of their deworming programs. There is a lot of old information out there and tons of myths that need clarification. Their goal is to clear-up the confusion with accurate information and help people prevent the further development of anthelmianitc (dewormer) resistance.

The really cool part is that you get to learn how to do your own fecal egg counts and you can bring samples from your own horses to test!

I know seats are limited so register soon. Also they will be providing CE hours for those that need it.

Here is the info if anyone wants to register, I copied it straight from my email but you need to email the person at the bottom to get on the list:

"More than 40% of surveyed horse farms have drug-resistant parasites... does yours?

The leaders in equine parasitology agree that we must change the way we deworm our horses. Come learn more about the important advances in equine parasite management and how to implement them on your farm.

Eggzamin will be sponsoring a FREE hands-on lecture and wet lab:

10am Saturday July 23rd, Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine

We will be discussing the current state of equine internal parasite resistance and new strategies to control resistance in our horses. Participants will also learn how to perform fecal egg counts and interpret the results!

What to expect from this workshop:

* Learn how to appropriately manage parasites in your horse(s)

* Perform your own fecal egg counts

* Ensure the proper use of deworming chemicals

* Help stop the advancement of drug-resistant parasites

What to bring:

*Fecal samples from your own horses to test, or we can provide samples for you.

*Something to take notes on might also be beneficial.

Seats are limited to the first 35 people, please reply to this email with your name and the number of participants planning to attend. The Texas A&M University Office of Veterinary Continuing Education will be awarding CE hours for this workshop. When replying to this email be sure to mention if you are interested in the CE hours.

Eggzamin will also be posting updates about this event on their Facebook page

Julie Carroll, Veterinary Parasitologist
