Hi all,
My name is Louise, we live near Vulcan, Alberta. We currently have 16 horses that are in various stages of training. We work our own cattle as well as help the neighbors when the call comes in, we do some trail riding but not nearly enough to keep me amused.

Welcome Louise, I feel like such wimp I couldn't handle my broke ones in your weather, can't even imagine having 16 in training.  I do envy the cattle.

I have 3, 2 semi retired cutting horses, and a pony sized horse we raised.  Live in a barn/house combo we built near Louisville, KY.

Palopony, I love the cold and thrive in it, I a one of those weirdos that runs around in shorts in the winter lol.

We run 220 cow calf pairs right now and are increasing to about 300 this fall.

I HATE the cold.

I have low blood pressure so I get cold easily.

I have low blood pressure too, but it doesn't affect my cold tolerance like it does my Mom and Aunts.

We were calving in -40C and colder last year and for the most part I was running around in a good Carrhart coat, spandex leggings, muck boots and leather lined gloves. As long as my feet are warm, the rest of me stays pretty warm too. Arctic Sport boots by Muckboots are the most amazing winter gear ever. I spent years wearing Sorels and I will never go back to them

Buy some Muckboots and you will finally know what warm feet are lol.

My feet are always damp in them but I have to be out for a long time and not moving for my feet to get cold. They are completely waterproof to the knees, but my feet sweat because the boots are made of the same stuff that divers wear

The last time I was in PA, it had snowed a lot and I jumped out of the semi in snow and water to my butt wearing shorts, tank top and Sorels. I fueled up, went in to eat and caused stares of horror, they thought I was an escaped lunatic lmao. I had to explain that I was Canadian hahaha

WElcom Louise! My typing eaves something to be desired and I have had enough coffee to not care about correcting typos =)

I am in the center of the US in Iowa, we are still in an Indian Summer of sorts here. I am not complaining, never know when a blizzard will blow up this time of year
